Celebrity Perfumes We Love

White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor: Most of us grew up knowing someone who used this classic perfume, whether it was our mothers, grandmothers, or aunts. White Diamonds was the original celebrity perfume and became an instant sensation for anyone hoping to emanate the elegance and grace of Miss Violet Eyes herself. The celebrity scent is a floral fragrance through and through. With top notes of orange, lily, bergamot, and neroli, White Diamonds starts off light and just a tad citrusy. However, the heart of this fragrance lies in the middle notes of jasmine, Turkish rose, carnation, ylang-ylang, and narcissus. A lingering essence of amber, patchouli, and sandalwood make the fragrance mature and timeless.

Glow For Her by Jennifer Lopez: The bottle of this popular celebrity perfume might look like something straight out of 2002, and that’s because it is. Jennifer Lopez has had several knock-out perfumes to her name, but Glow is the long-reigning queen of her perfume line, and it also the first fragrance from the superstar. This was the first best-selling perfume by a celebrity since the OG celebrity fragrance from Elizabeth Taylor, and inspired dozens of other celebrities to create their own scents. This scent is clean and sweet, and some even go so far as to describe it as “soapy.” Though, don’t expect to smell like a bar of Irish Spring when wearing Glow. Glow has top notes of grapefruit and neroli, with middle notes of rose and jasmine. The base notes include amber, vanilla, and sandalwood, with a lingering powdery aroma.

Paris Hilton For Her: Even ladies who shun celebrity perfumes have owned a Paris Hilton fragrance. Her first perfume, named simply Paris Hilton, is perhaps her most iconic. The cylindrical pale pink bottle with burgundy swirls donned shelves all over the world in 2005 when it was released. This luxury fragrance is fruity and floral, with top notes of jasmine, freesia, and tuberose, the scent starts off light and airy (should we say heir-y?), and finishes with a powdery base of milkiness, sandalwood, musk, and moss. Other recognizable scents by the heiress include Can Can, Dazzle, With Love, and her newest perfumes, Gold Rush and Rose Rush.

Curious by Britney Spears:Britney Spears has almost as many fragrances as Paris Hilton, making her one of the most frequently occurring celebrity perfumes on shelves, and they have all been well-received. Curious is her first scent, and many of us remember the sexy commercials for this celebrity perfume from 2004. This fragrance came at the height of Britney’s music career, and every 20-something had to have it, and so did their little sisters. This gorgeous scent is still on shelves, though is not quite as popular as it once was, but it should be. Curious features light top notes of pear, magnolia, and lotus, and an intense heart of floral notes including jasmine, pink cyclamen, and tuberose. It finishes with base notes of musk, vanilla, and white woods, making this fragrance young, sweet, and sensual. Other top fragrances from Britney Spears that we can’t forget to mention because they are so good include Private Show, which - believe it or not - is based around iced coffee, and Fantasy, which Spears claims is her favorite scent.

Kim Kardashian For Her: Look, everyone has an opinion about Kim K. Whether you love her, or love to hate her, you can’t deny a good scent when you find one. Kardashian has several scents, but her original debuted in 2009. Kim claims that she loves this one so much that she wore it on her wedding day, so you know this women’s perfume is the real deal. With sweet top notes of mandarin and honeysuckle, the floral middle notes of the scent take center stage with pink jasmine, gardenia, and tuberose. The base is warm and comforting, with hints of vanilla, sandalwood, and musk.

Heat by Beyonce:As with most fragrances on this list, the first scent that a celebrity debuts is usually their most iconic and popular, and Queen B is no different. Beyonce’s Heat, which debuted in 2010, is sexy and fiery - kind of like Beyonce herself. If the bottle seems a little outdated, it is with intention. Beyonce wanted the bottle to look antique, with a hint of her favorite color, red. Heat packs an initial punch with notes of neroli, orchid, magnolia, and peach. Heat’s middle notes include honeysuckle, almond, cream, and musk - the last of which is usually reserved for base notes, but makes a strong statement in Heat. The base of this sensual fragrance has elements of tonka bean, amber, and sequoia wood.

Fame by Lady Gaga: This is a unique perfume, as you would expect from Lady Gaga. Unlike most perfumes that have top, middle, and base notes that present themselves throughout the day, Fame does not have this hierarchical structure - but don’t confuse that for this perfume being linear and boring. It is anything but. This celebrity perfume is designed with something called “push-pull technology,” meaning each fragrance note highlights the others at the same time. This technology includes three main “accords.” One accord is dark and heavy, and includes notes of incense and the poisonous flower belladonna. There is a sensual accord that has notes of honey, saffron, and apricot. And a final floral accord of jasmine and orchid. The three accords that compliment each other aren’t the only innovative feature of this celebrity fragrance. Fame is a black inky liquid that becomes invisible as it dries.
